Thank you for sharing! I've subscribed to see how you serialize your work on Substack.

What's your process on creating a series?

Hi Zo, and thanks so much for subscribing. To be honest I’m kind of developing my process as I go. I’ve written short stories and a trilogy, but this is my first time serializing a story. Enjoying it quite a bit. But to answer your question more directly, basically I work to have a new installment every Monday. For me that means that on Saturday and Sunday mornings, I get a running start into each new section by first reading some unrelated fiction just to get my brain in a fiction space, then going back and re-reading what I wrote earlier to get my mind back in THAT space. Then I literally just let it rip for about 500 words. I’m a pantser - fly by the seat of my pants - so I find out what’s happening in my story as I write it. Not a whole lot of planning except for a general sketch of a scene that I imagine should follow. I also always leave my last sentence unfinished so that it forces me to complete that sentence when I start writi ng again which gets me off and running. Anyway, that’s about it for what I do. Hope that answered your question…? Again, appreciate the support.

Your insight has been truly helpful. My goal is to hold myself to writing at least once a week for 6 months. Right now, the pen is flowing, but it is flowing a little too well and without any guidance.

I want to take my writings and turn them in novels. We'll see lol
